Sadly on March 14, 2010, Yolanda Carmen Cruz de Better, known to all as "Aba", surrounded by her family, went to rest in the Lord's arms. Beloved wife of the late Miguel Angel Better, devoted mother of Hernan Gerardo Garcia of Costa Rica and Yolanda Maria Welch, cherished grandmother of Andrea Garcia Leon, Cristina Garcia Leon, Michael James Salcedo and Demitra Christina Hajimihalis, treasured great-grandmother of Kristine Fichtner Garcia, Nicole Fichtner Garcia, Alberto Barela Garcia, Sebastian Barela Garcia, Jose Ignacio Barela Garcia and Landon Michael Salcedo. The youngest of twelve children, she is survived by her brother Antonio Cruz and her sister Olivia Cook. The family wishes to thank the health care staff at Towson Multi Medical Center and St. Joseph Hospital for their compassionate care also special gratitude to Dr. Steven A. Levenson, for many years of outstanding care.

A memorial service will be held at Ruck Towson Funeral Home 1050 York Road, Towson, MD, 21204 at 2 pm on Saturday, March 20th. Following the memorial the family will be receiving family and friends at their home 10370 Pot Spring Road, Lutherville, MD 21093. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made to her beloved Centro de la Comunidad 3021 Eastern Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21224.
