William Arthur Beale, born May 17, 1945, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 19, 2024. He is survived by the family he adored: his wife, Barbara, daughter, Brady Beale, son-in-law, Davis Clark, two granddaughters, Viv and Anna, and sister, Susan Beale Perry.
Bill loved life and education. He attended St. Paul's School in Baltimore and Princeton University where he later served as president of both Alumni Associations. He attended University of Maryland Law School and later taught at the University of Baltimore Law School. In 1975, he co-founded The Maryland Youth & the Law (MYLAW, formerly known as CLREP-Citizenship Law Related Education Program) to promote law-related education in public and private schools.
Bill proudly served the Towson community for 50 years as a lawyer. He was very active in the American Bar Association, Maryland Bar Association, Baltimore City Bar Association and Baltimore County Bar Association. He was involved over the years in many organizations including, among others, Baltimore County Historic Landmarks Preservation Commission, Baltimore Independent School Scholarship Fund, Inc., Cap and Gown Club of Princeton, NJ, Gamma Eta Gamma, and Chesapeake Bay Foundation. He was a JAG lawyer for the Maryland Defense Force. Bill was a civic-minded person, loved Baltimore, and was always proud to serve.
In his spare time, he treasured time spent with friends and family. He loved to sail competitively and recreationally and later in life, took up golf and enjoyed many days on the courses. He will be sorely missed.
Friends and family may call at the family owned Ruck Towson Funeral Home (Beltway exit 26) on February 8, 2025, 2:00-4:30 PM. There will be a memorial service that will begin at 4 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
