Sibyl Brown Gibbs, born in Baltimore on April 10, 1943, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026 at Brightview Assisted Living in Towson, Maryland. She was surrounded by her children, siblings, friends, and devoted caregivers, Sophia, Gina, and Olivia.

In her early years, Sibby participated heavily in athletics at Garrison Forest School and was women's club golf champion at the Elkridge Club. She had a distinguished real estate career, beginning at Hill & Company, continuing at MacKenzie & Associates, and later becoming Director of Marketing and Sales at Brightwood Retirement Community. She enjoyed travel, gardening, cooking, playing bridge and especially spending times with her friends. Sib lit up a room with her sense of humor and wonderful smile, engaging both friends and strangers alike.

Sib is survived by two children from her first marriage to William S. Merrick Jr, William S. Merrick III and Wendy Merrick Doak; her husband, W.T. Dixon Gibbs Jr; his sons, W.T. Dixon Gibbs III, David H. Gibbs; her siblings, J. Dorsey Brown III, Pamela B. Kloman, Sandra C. Brown; and her grandchildren, Connor Doak, Acey Wolf, and Jenny Merrick.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, 10:30 AM at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 232 St. Thomas Lane, Owings Mills, Maryland 21117.
