Scott Andrew
Brown
d. May 25, 2025
On May 25, 2025, Scott Andrew Brown passed away peacefully at his home in Cockeysville, Maryland.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Melvin and Jean Brown, Scott lived a life full of curiosity, exploration, and love. His career as a chemist led him to live and work in several places across the country—including Pennsylvania, Delaware, Atlanta, and eventually Baltimore, where he retired to be closer to his daughter. His work not only challenged his mind but also offered him the unique gift of travel, allowing him to see the world and experience its diversity firsthand.
Scott had an adventurous spirit that never faded with age. He was an avid hiker, loved exploring trails, and never turned down a chance to try something new. Whether it was ziplining with his daughter or skydiving, he approached life with enthusiasm and courage. In retirement, he found joy in gardening, transforming his outdoor spaces with care and patience, and sharing his harvest with those around him.
A lifelong lover of science, Scott was passionate about research and continued to read scientific literature long after his professional career had ended. His intellectual curiosity was matched only by his deep love of family.
He was the devoted father of Laura Marie Brown and her husband, Willis Spencer Jr., and is fondly remembered by Laura's mother, Lynda Brown. He was the loving brother of Susan Myers (Blaine), David Brown (Sue), and Douglas Brown (Lorene). Scott is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cherished friends.
One of the greatest joys of his life was the annual family reunion—a full week each year surrounded by his extended family. These gatherings were filled with laughter, connection, and a strong sense of togetherness, and they remained a highlight of his life year after year.
Scott's warmth, wit, and wisdom will be missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 3, 2025, 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the family owned Ruck-Towson Funeral Home, Inc.,1050 York Road, (at beltway exit 26), where a Memorial Service will be held at 6:30 PM.
