On July 20, 2026, Salvatore Caltabiano passed away peacefully at his home in Reisterstown, MD. He is the beloved husband of Vincenza Caltabiano (nee Emmi); devoted father of Nello Caltabiano (Lisa), Salvatore Caltabiano (Rose), Anita Macek (Tim), and the late Carmen Caltabiano; loving grandfather of Vincent (Kristin), Marco, Geaton (Emily), Sophia, Franco (fiancée Molly), Domenico, Giuliana, Lauren (fiancée Pierce), Danielle, Michael, Megan (Tim), Sal, Lucia (fiancé Alex) and Carmen (Shelby); cherished great-grandfather of Sophia, Gianna, Dominic, Mila, Francesca, Sonny, Faith, Shayne, Isabella, Sadie and great great-grandfather of Donovan and Luca; dear brother of Renato Caltabiano, Rita Cleveland, and the late Marco Caltabaino, Santo Caltabiano, and Pete Caltabiano.
Salvatore Caltabiano met the love of his life, Vincenza, in 1953 in the small town of Linguaglossa, Sicily. They married in 1957 and immigrated to the United States shortly after. They built a successful and well-respected taxidermy business and raised their family in the Baltimore area. He came to the United States with awards and accolades under his belt as a champion sharp shooter in Italy. Before leaving Italy, he also competed in, and won, several Vespa competitions.
Sal traveled the world for big-game hunting in Africa, Russia, Canada, and throughout the United States. He built a reputation in the tri-state area and beyond as a skilled taxidermist and attracted customers from hundreds of miles away.
He loved to hunt, fish, and travel with his wife Vincenza. He had tremendous love and devotion for his family and was considered a valued friend by many. Salvatore leaves a legacy of faith, an incredible work ethic and a passion for adventure.
Friends may visit at the Ruck Towson Funeral Home, 1050 York Rd, Towson, MD on Sunday, July 26th from 2-4 & 6-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Catholic Community of St. Francis Xavier, 13717 Cuba Rd, Hunt Valley, MD 21030, on Monday, July 27th at 10am. The entombment will follow at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
