Robert A. Koppel, 68, of Baltimore Maryland passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Sinai Hospital.

Born on April 17, 1957 in Baltimore City, Maryland. He was the son of the late Adolphe G. Koppel and Frances Isobel (nee Hindson) Koppel.

He attended schools in Baltimore County and courses at Catonsville Community College.

He retired from The Chesapeake Detention Facility as Warden after 36 years and continued working as a consultant with the correction system.

He is survived by one brother, Keith Koppel, of Baltimore, MD and a second family from West Virginia, Libby McCollum Ditto (John), Lisa McCollum Hovermale (Gale) and the late Bobby McCollum.

His love for his dogs was known well. A few to mention were Snowball, Spike, Brooke, Molly, and Callie.

He enjoyed gardening and owned a racehorse with some friends one year. He loved the races at Pimlico and Charlestown.

The services and interment will be private.
