Obituary

On June 28, 2011 Ray, or "chippy" as those who were closest called him, was a man that devoted his life to his loving wife MiMi (Miriam) Avaritt. Ray was a teacher who took great pride in helping students to learn; a man who spent his life always trying to learn new things. Ray had the good fortune to have a circle of friends that he enjoyed spending time with. He loved traveling with his wife and sharing new and different adventures with her. He took great pleasure in books, languages, gardening, and was an avid train enthusiast. Ray was greatly loved by both his and his wife's family. He took joy in spending time with them, especially his nephew Damian Mancuso. He is predeceased by his children Rachel Marie and Connor Patrick, his parents Ollie and Mamie Avaritt; two brothers Dick and Tom Avaritt; and a sister Thelma Galicki. He leaves behind his parents-in-law, Vince and Virginia Mancuso; a sister-in-law, Gina Mancuso and her boyfriend Dave; three brothers-in-law; Joe, Scott, Tony Mancuso and their families, a brother Ollie and his wife Jean Avaritt; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Ray will be mourned by his adoring wife as their great love story takes a different path.

A memorial service will be held at the family owned Duda-Ruck Funeral Home of Dundalk, Inc. 7922 Wise Avenue on Saturday at 8 PM. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6-8 PM. Interment will be private
