Rachel Edmonston
Harman
d. Apr 3, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Ms. Rachel Edmonston Harman of Towson, who passed peacefully in her sleep on April 3rd, 2025, at the age of 86. Rachel, daughter of the late Archibald and Naomi Edmonston, was born on October 6th, 1938, and was a lifelong member of the Towson community, where she graduated from Towson High School, married former husband Ronald Harman and raised their 3 children.
Rachel was the proud owner of Flutterby's in Harbor Place for 12 years where she sold an assortment of butterfly related merchandise. Upon the closure of her beloved shop, she became a friendly face at the counter of Wilson Lighting where she greeted customers and sold lighting and home décor for roughly 20 years. Rachel was also an avid volunteer at Bykota Senior Center and a member of the "Meat Loaf Club" where she and friends made meatloaf for homeless shelters in and around Baltimore city.
Rachel's younger years were spent enjoying summers in Ocean City with friends and family, playing tennis at Eagle's Nest Country Club, playing bridge with friends, planting flowers in her garden, and enjoying arts and crafts. However, her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family, swimming with her grandchildren at Eagle's Nest, and taking endless pictures to commemorate each occasion.
She was the proud mother of 3 children; Scott Harman, Todd Harman (Vandy), and Jill Jackson (Ray); a doting grandmother to 9 grandchildren; Raymond Jackson (Caitlin), Tyler Harman (Kelsey), Chase Harman (Courtney), Nicole Jackson-Wolf (Jake), Lindsey Harman, Kendall Jackson, Ben Harman, Matt Harman and Chris Harman; a thrilled great-grandmother to Clara Harman, Greyson Jackson, Delilah Harman and Mackenzie Jackson-Wolf; and a loving aunt to her niece, Vicki Faix (Tim). Though she precedes them all in death, she leaves a lifetime of special memories behind. The family would also like to express their thanks and gratitude to the administration and staff of Pickersgill Retirement Community and Gilchrist Hospice for the exceptional care they provided to Rachel over the last several years of her life.
The family will be welcoming visitors at Ruck Towson Funeral Home, 1050 York Rd, Towson, MD, on Tuesday, April 15th, from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm. The funeral service will also be held at Ruck of Towson on April 16th at 11:00am. The interment at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens will be private.
