On October 7, 2011, Philip John Barthel, 81, of Baltimore City, former owner of Clinton Service Center in Canton and long time owner and driver with Checker Cab passed away after a long illness. He is the loving son of the late Phil and Agnes Barthel; beloved husband of Amelia Jean (nee Dilks); dear brother of Fran Berry and her husband Ed; devoted father of Sandra Pyle, Janice Bertram, and Sharlene Robinson; grandfather of six grandchildren and numerous loving great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; also survived by many loving relatives and a host of friends.

Friends may call at the family owned Leonard J. Ruck, Inc. Funeral Home 5305 Harford Road (at Echodale) on Monday 2-4 & 7-9pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Shrine of the Little Flower on Tuesday, 10am. Entombment Meadowridge Memorial Park.
