With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Paul Charles Haigley, Jr. of Baltimore, Maryland, who passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025. Born August 30, 1941 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Paul Charles Haigley, Sr., and the late Margaret Chonkich Haigley. The beloved husband of the late Donna Maria Haigley, whom he was married to for almost 60 years; devoted father of Paul C. Haigley, III and his wife Antoinette; Maria Burkhardt and her late husband Greg; and cherished grandfather of Margaret, Julia, and Paulie. Also survived by his cousin, Louis E. Heidrick (Janet) of Crownsville, Maryland, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, & great nephews.
Paul was raised in Southwest Baltimore and attended grade school at Fourteen Holy Martyrs. He was also a 1959 Graduate of Mount Saint Joseph's High School in Irvington. Paul went to night school in the early 1960s at the University of Baltimore and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He always had a passion for the fire service and spent 40 years following his dream. Paul worked with the Anne Arundel County Fire Department for 31 years (1962-1993), climbing the promotion ladder along the way, and retired as the Fire Administrator. Paul graduated from the National Fire Service Staff and Command School located in Emmitsburg, Maryland. He then spent 8 years (1994-2001) with the St. Lucie County Fire District in Florida as their Fire Administrator.
Family and friends are invited to gather at the Ruck Funeral Home, Inc, 1050 York Road, Towson, MD 21204, on August 27, 2025, from 2:00–4:00 PM and 6:00–8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on August 28, 2025, at 11 AM at Saint Joseph's Monastery Parish, 3801 Old Frederick Road, Baltimore, MD 21229 for both Paul Charles Haigley, Jr. and his late wife, Donna Maria Haigley, who died during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. His committal service and internment will follow at Loudon Park National Cemetery, Baltimore, MD.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the Springwell Senior Living Community c/o the Employee Appreciation Program located at 2211 West Rogers Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21209 or to the Hopewell Cancer Support, 10628 Falls Rd, Timonium, MD 21093.
