Olivia Morgan
Madder
d. Jan 15, 2026
Olivia Morgan Madder was called home to heaven, trusting fully in God's promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ alone, on January 15, 2026.
She was the loving daughter of David and Susan Madder of Towson MD, and sister of Caleb Madder (Baltimore MD) and Sam Madder (Atlanta GA), the precious niece to Judy (Ben) Schwab of LaCrosse WI, and Linda (Gary) Wood of Annandale VA; dear cousin of Andrew (Katie), Jonathan (Ginny), Suzanne, and Christopher (Anna) Schwab, and Zachary and Jacob Wood. She is also survived by special friends including Mary Heffner, Carrie DeCamilla, and her "Cape May Cousins".
Olivia was born on April 11, 1996 in Philadelphia PA to her parents, and lived there for the first 9 years of life. She then moved to Towson MD with her family, where she attended Cambridge School and then Loch Raven High School.
Olivia was a graduate of Messiah College in 2018 with a BS in Nursing. One of the highlights of her time there was a winter clinical placement in Zambia.
Following graduation and the passing of her nursing boards she accepted a job at Hershey Medical Center–working in the pediatric emergency department. Olivia's work there was a central joy of her adult life, using her gifts and creativity to reach children and parents with compassion and skill in the midst of traumatic and life threatening experiences. She thoroughly enjoyed the responsibility of orienting new graduate nurses, and improving the experience and care for families of children with special needs, who had repeated emergency room admissions.
Enjoying the beach (especially Cape May NJ), nurturing succulent plants, thrift shopping, writing notes on pretty cards, listening to music, napping, and playing card games were favorite pastimes. She loved strawberries, Coca-Cola, Maria's pizza, and cannolis. Among her most treasured books were The Chronicles of Narnia. Favorite books of the Bible were Ephesians, Romans, and the Psalms.
Being down on the floor interacting with children was her place of contentment, especially longed for while ill; " holding babies is good for my soul."
Olivia was a person who listened more than talked. Her words were direct, honest and without an attempt to persuade or sugarcoat. Those she cared for appreciated this as a special gift.
The gift of her goldendoodle puppy, Jasper, gave us much laughter and reason to get up each day. Olivia dove into learning and training for this pup. Jasper visited in bed next to Olivia right up to the end of her earthly life.
As the muck of inflammatory breast cancer and brain metastases brought more and more health challenges she imagined seeing her grandmothers in heaven where there will be no more pills, brain fog, headaches, or exhaustion.
When her planned discharge to home in early January had to be forfeited, Olivia courageously chose hospice care at Gilchrist. There she had the constant presence of loved ones. As we wept, we prayed of God's promises, sang praises, and read His Word. One day in heaven we will be with Olivia again, enjoying God together.
Quote found in Olivia's journal: "Faith is the art of holding on to things in spite of your changing moods and circumstances." C.S. Lewis
Hebrews 11: 1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
