Matthew Donald
Cooper
d. Jul 6, 2026
Matthew Donald Cooper passed away on July 6, 2026. Born in Baltimore on October 13, 1970, he was the beloved son of the late Mary Helen Cooper (née Hamilton) and Donald Cooper.
Matthew was exceptionally intelligent, with a quick wit, a remarkable memory, and a genuine curiosity about the world around him. He could converse knowledgeably on a wide range of subjects, from sports and politics to history and current events. As a young child, he loved reading and learning, often delighting family and friends with his gregarious nature and impressive knowledge of historical facts.
Matthew cherished the friendships he formed during his years at Calvert Hall College ('88) and often reflected fondly on that time. Following college, he worked as an Institutional Program Trader at Legg Mason. Throughout his life, he enjoyed spending time with family, cheering on the Baltimore Orioles, visiting ballparks across the country, and taking memorable road trips. He was also an avid collector of baseball cards and coins, hobbies that brought him great enjoyment.
A gentle and kind soul, Matthew will be deeply mourned and lovingly remembered by his brother, Craig Cooper and husband, Sean Buckley; his sister, Kellie Gaver (the late John Gaver); his sister Maureen Manley and husband, Andrew; and his nieces, Hannah and Rachel Manley.
Private remembrance services will be held by the family.
