Obituary

Marjorie (Marj) Mercer Quigley, a retired Educational Specialist in the Baltimore City Schools, passed away on June 29th

A longtime resident of Edenwald, she lived in the Towson area most of her life, enjoying many years raising her family in the Stoneleigh Community. She was born in Baltimore and reared in Pinehurst, the daughter of George and Lucille Mercer, also longtime residents of Edenwald. Graduating from Eastern High School in 1956, she received her bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland and her master's degree from Loyola University.

She devoted her professional career to bettering the lives of children. She joined the Baltimore City schools as a kindergarten teacher, quickly advancing to Reading Specialist, School Psychologist, and Educational Specialist.

After retiring, she and her husband Dr. Ennis Quigley, moved to Florida where they enjoyed the sunshine, volunteering in local schools and traveling throughout the US and abroad. Upon her husband's passing in 2010, Marj returned to Towson and became a resident of Edenwald. She will always be remembered for her love of gardening, her creative artistry, and her kind heart. She was always grateful to the staff and residents of Edenwald as their care and friendship truly made Edenwald home.

She is survived by her daughters Diana Fusting and her husband Michael of Maryland, Dr. Dayle Quigley and her husband Scott Arndt of Minnesota, and her son David Quigley of California. She is also survived by six grandchildren whom she adored, and three great-grandchildren who brought her such joy and pride.
