In Loving Memory of Madeleine Claudia Barnett ("Maddie")

February 21, 1937 – October 6, 2026

Madeleine Claudia Barnett, affectionately known to all who loved her as "Maddie," passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. She was 89 years old.

A true world traveler whoes life spanned three continents, Maddie lived an extraordinary journey. Raised in Halstead, England, her story took an adventurous turn when she moved to South Africa. It was in Cape Town where she met the love of her life and soulmate, Brian Barnett, and where they began their life and family together. Across the Atlantic, Maddie and Brian took roots in the States where they raised their daughters and watched their grandchildren grow. Maddie ultimately spent her final chapter back in their beloved Baltimore where decades prior, she and Brian had adopted the O's and the love of a crab feast as traditions of their own.

At the heart of Maddie’s life was her unwavering connection with Brian. Together, they shared a lifetime rich in travel, laughter, and deep devotion. Her family finds comfort in the thought that after years apart, they are reunited in some way.

To know Maddie was to know a passionate collector of memories. She filled countless photo albums with moments from every corner of the world, and nothing brought her greater joy than flipping through those pages to relive life's grand adventures and quiet milestones. Above all, Maddie delighted in genuine connection. A loyal friend whose connections endured across decades and continents, she brought immense joy to those around her. Her loved ones were the fortunate recipients of her endless stories, humor, and lively conversation- most often enjoyed over a game of Rummikub or a glass of wine.

Maddie is survived by her three daughters, Tracy Rolle, Michele Ciletti, and Linda Moore, her son-in-law, Joe, as well as her 6 grandchildren and their families including 8 great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward pieces of her story. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Brian Barnett, parents, Allan and Winifred Keymer, and son-in-law, Douglas Doty.

Maddie aka G.G. will be remembered for her English warmth, her sharp wit, and her rare ability to produce a story about every part of the world. She lived fully, remembered fondly, and will be dearly missed.

A private celebration of Maddie's life will be held at a later date.
