Linda
Modeski
d. Sep 18, 2026
Linda (Lin) Lee Sharp Modeski, née Morris, 78, a longtime resident of Baltimore County, passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord on September 18, 2026, while under the compassionate care of Heartland Hospice.
Linda was preceded in death by her father, Leroy (Lee) Charles Morris; her mother, Bertha (Bert) Rae Morris; her former husband, Edward Modeski; and her beloved grandson, Joseph (Joey) Kodek.
Born to Bertha and Leroy Morris in Baltimore on October 29, 1947, Linda was the oldest of five siblings. She attended Anne Arundel County Public Schools and spent her early childhood growing up in Brooklyn Park. In June 1961, the family moved to Riviera Beach, affectionately known as "The Beach." There, Linda ran the quiet streets with her friends and hoped her dad wouldn't catch her swimming at The Point after dusk. She was always "daddy's little girl," and, as far as he was concerned, she could do no wrong.
Linda was raised in the Lutheran faith at Christ Lutheran Church in Baltimore and later at Stoney Creek Lutheran Church near the family home in Riviera Beach. Later in life, Linda converted to Catholicism and became a faithful member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Baltimore.
Matthew 19:14 reads, "But Jesus said, suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for such is the kingdom of Heaven." As an early childhood Sunday School teacher at Sacred Heart of Mary, Linda lived out the message of this verse by bringing young children to faith in Christ and sharing His love with them.
Linda's service to others extended far beyond the church. In the early 1970s, she became a volunteer firefighter and earned her Firefighter I certification. She first served with the Lansdowne Volunteer Fire Department before joining the English Consul Volunteer Fire Department, where she rose to the rank of Captain. In 1977, Linda became the first female Cardiac Rescue Technician (CRT), a forerunner of today's paramedics, in Baltimore County.
Linda later joined the Baltimore City Fire Department, where she proudly served for more than 20 years. Throughout her many decades of service, she received numerous honors for her extraordinary commitment to saving lives. Among them were the Baltimore City Fire Department's Paramedic of the Year award in 1983; the Comptroller's Citation, recognizing her excellence in service during the 2nd Annual Women in Blue Awards Ceremony in 1993; and recognition from the Metropolitan Firefighters Baltimore Regional Burn Center in 1996. Linda retired honorably from the Baltimore City Fire Department at the rank of Lieutenant.
Even after her retirement, Linda continued her commitment to helping others. She provided peer counseling within emergency services and participated in critical incident stress debriefing for those experiencing post-traumatic stress. She also generously volunteered her time with Chesapeake High School in Baltimore County and with Boys Town in Nebraska, where she was honored with honorary citizenship.
Linda loved people deeply and cared about those around her. Through her family, her faith, her career, and her service to others, she lived her faith every day.
Linda is survived by her former husband Robert Sharp Sr.; their daughter, Leeann Michele Giordano (Tony) of Pasadena; their son, Robert (Bobby) Sharp Jr. of Delaware; her siblings and their spouses, Laura Ryan (Dan) of Pasadena, Dennis Morris of Hancock, David Morris (Kathy) of Pasadena, and Donald Morris (Sue) of Florida; her granddaughters, Elizabeth Dean and Amanda Sharp; her great-grandchildren, Ryan Cobak, Kyleigh Kodek, and Matthew Cubbage Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the family-owned Duda-Ruck Funeral Home of Dundalk Inc., 7922 Wise Ave. on Saturday (9/26/2026) from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Where the funeral service will also be held on Saturday at 10:30 AM. Interment Sacred Heart of Mary Cemetery
