Linda Ann Gathwright (née Grue): Queen of the Green, Captain of the Bay, and Nonnie Extraordinaire

On June 19, 2025, Linda Ann Gathwright of Lutherville, MD, traded in her golf clubs and sailing shoes for a well-earned rest. She passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and a killer short game.

Linda was the beloved first mate to her husband and sailing partner, Clement George Gathwright. Together, they sailed the Chesapeake Bay and beyond, where Linda was known to navigate both storms and sunsets with equal grace (and a well-timed chardonnay).

When she wasn't teeing off or trimming sails, Linda was the heart of her family. She was the devoted mother of Laurie Warlick (Craig) and Shawn Alvino (Dan), and the doting grandmother of Katie, Eleanor, and Charlotte—who all knew her as the fun Nonnie who never said no to dessert or a spontaneous adventure. She was also the cherished sister of Mary Ellen Grecco and the late Felix and Dennis Grue, and a dear sister-in-law to Patricia Grue.

Linda lived a life full of joy, curiosity, and compassion. Whether she was perfecting her swing, catching the wind just right, or cheering on her granddaughters, she did it all with a twinkle in her eye and a heart full of love.

The family will receive friends at St. Joseph Church, 100 Church Ln, Cockeysville, MD 2103, on Saturday, July 19th, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, at which time a Memorial Mass will begin.

Raise a glass, swing a club, or take a moment to watch the sunset—just as Linda would have wanted.
