Obituary

On Wednesday, July 9, 2025, Leuthpansai "Joe" Vilayvong, peacefully passed away in Towson, Maryland. He was the beloved son of Bouachan and Bounthavy Soukkaphan Of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,  and the late Kykeo Vilayvong. He is survived by his wife Vanna (Ling) Souvannaphong, alongside his sister Noy Wells and her husband Dave and their child Alexander, whom all reside in Virginia; his brother Seth Vilayvong and his wife Nang/Villy, and their children Ryan, Avis, and Milliah, whom all reside in Abingdon, Maryland; and his sister, Joy Soukkaphan-Honeycutt and her husband Derek, and their six children, whom all reside in Pasadena, MD.

Joe and his family came to the US in January 1984 from a refugee camp in Thailand. They landed in Baltimore, Maryland. He was born on February 22, 1977 in Vientiane, Laos and is the youngest out of the three siblings.

He stayed inside her womb for 10 months before making his way into the world. Joe waited for his father, Kykeo, to return from working out of town. On the day that Joe decided to leave his mother's womb, she was out selling grilled chicken at the local market in Vientiane.

A neighbor came by to inform Bouachan that her husband had returned to town, which then caused her to go into labor.

Joe was a very adventurous kid growing up. He always followed his older brother, Seth around and Seth would always have to bail Joe out of trouble. When both brothers were in trouble, their sister Noy would have to intervene.

At the age of 17, he entered the working field of insulation. In June of 2006, he became a certified mechanical insulator, and it was a very proud achievement for him. From then on, he made a name for himself in the field. He took pride in his work and made an impact on everyone that he met.

He is a jack of all trades. He was a hard worker, loved cars, motorcycles, fishing, and he loved his family deeply. He was a great cook as well.

Joe and Lynn meet in October 1999 in their early 20's. They loved each other deeply and started their life together in February 2000, when Lynn relocated to Baltimore, Maryland. They didn't have much starting off as a young couple but managed to build a better life together.

Joe loved and admired his brother Seth. He was a father-figure to Joe, and he always wanted Seth and Noy to be proud of him.

He is very proud of all his nephews and nieces and wishes the very best for all of them.
