Obituary

Leon Shane Evans, 56, of Towson, MD, passed away on January 3, 2025, surrounded by loved ones, following complications from a 14-hour cardiac surgery on Christmas Day.

Born in Easton, MD, Shane was the cherished son of Nicki Dixon Somers-Bashor of Marion Station, MD, and the late Leon Welch Evans of Crisfield, MD.

Shane graduated from Crisfield High School in 1986 and proudly served his country as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. His time in the military shaped his resilience and discipline, which he carried throughout his life. After his service, he attended Surry Community College in Dobson, NC, and later built a successful career in Information Technology, serving as IT Director for several organizations.

Beyond his professional achievements, Shane was a man of many passions. He had an eye for photography, capturing beauty in unexpected ways, and enjoyed spending time immersed in the game Ark, which brought him friends and memories he deeply cherished.

Shane will be deeply missed by those who loved him. He is survived by his mother, Nicki Dixon Somers-Bashor; his wife, Ashley Carr-Evans of Towson; and his daughter, Jenna Evans of Salisbury, MD. He is also survived by his stepbrother, Mark Somers (Barbara) of Rumbley, MD; his aunts, Mary Thomas (David) of Marion Station, MD, Toni Peters (David) of Laurel, DE, and Patti Dixon of Sumter, SC; his uncle, Frederick Dixon (Lorraine) of Aguilar, CO; and his great-aunts, Joan Sterling of Crisfield, MD, and Ann Howard of Pasadena, MD.

In addition, he is survived by his brother-in-law, Chris Wilson of Princess Anne, MD; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Michele and Rich Brown of Arnold, MD; his brother-in-law, Corey Brown; his sister-in-law, Emily Carr; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who will treasure his memory.

Leon is preceded in death by his father, Leon Welch Evans; his stepsister, Sheila Wilson; his grandparents, Cullen and Pauline Dixon and Mary Rose Todd and Wells Evans, all of Crisfield, MD; his aunt, Martha Betts (Irvin) of Georgetown, DE; and his stepfathers, Charles Somers Jr. of Upper Fairmount, MD, and William Bashor of Marion Station, MD.

A celebration of Shane's life will be held later in the spring/summer, where family and friends will gather to honor his legacy and share cherished memories.
