LaVerne W. Schneider

(April 27, 1926 - November 21, 2025)

On November 21, at the age of 99, LaVerne W. Schneider, beloved wife of the late Harry W. Schneider, Jr., devoted and loving mother of Scott Schneider and his wife Jill, grandmother of her cherished grandchildren Eric, Carson, Clara and Lindsey, and great grandmother of her two special girls, Logan and Archer, passed peacefully in her sleep in her home.

LaVerne was born in Baltimore in 1926 and was a lifetime resident of the Baltimore metropolitan area.  She was a loyal member of Towson United Methodist Church for over 50 years.  Knitting was a passion of hers, and through the years she knitted well over 1,000 baby caps which the church donated to area hospitals for newborns.

She and her late husband Harry were charter members of Hillendale Country Club since the 1950s, where Harry achieved multiple golf club championships, with LaVerne walking the fairways of every match.

When not on the golf course, LaVerne and Harry loved to spend weeks at a time during their summers with boating friends cruising the Chesapeake Bay and intercoastal waterway from New York to South Carolina.  They frequently visited Ocean City, where LaVerne loved walking the boardwalk, always looking for a shop to get something for her grandchildren.  She loved gardening and walking the neighborhood, talking to anyone she could find.

LaVerne and Harry have known each other since pre-school days, and were happily married for 69 years.  A private viewing will be held at Ruck Funeral Home at 1050 York Road in Towson at 11:00 am on December 6th for immediate family.  A Funeral Service will be held graveside at 1:00 pm on December 6th at Parkwood Cemetery in Baltimore, Maryland.  In memory of LaVerne, donations may be made to Towson United Methodist Church, 501 Hampton Lane, Towson, Maryland 21286.
