Joyce Seeley Barnett

Beloved daughter of William A. and Gladys Seeley

Sister to James W. Seeley (sister-in-law to Beebe)

Wife to Morton E. Barnett (m. June 6, 1970)

Born November 19, 1938, in St. Petersburg Floridia, the family lived in Florida until after the war at which time they moved to Spartanburg South Carolina. Joyce attended Converse College, where in 1960 she received a degree in Theater, Music and a minor in English.

Upon graduation she moved to New York City where she began a career with RCA Record Division. Joyce was an editor and advertising copywriter, eventually becoming Director of Co-op Advertising. Ms. Seeley took the lead roll in many of the advertising campaigns for many of the leading musical artists of the time and met her future husband.

Following Joyce and her husband moved to Baltimore Maryland and took ownership of Record and Tape Collector. From 1972 until 1985 Mrs. Barnett served in many capacities with Record and Tape Collector.

Departing Record and Tape Collector in 1985 Joyce began her final career at the Boys' Latin School of Maryland. As administrative assistant to the Head of the Lower School until 2022 Mrs. Barnett developed many long and lasting relationships mentoring the young students and faculty. 2022 brought a chance to go back to her roots and true love copywriting and editing.

Mrs. Barnett is survived by her son Jason N. Barnett, grandchildren Cody J. Neely and Caroline M. Barnett, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on July 7th at 10am at The Boys' Latin School of Maryland, 822 W. Lake Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21210.

In lieu of flowers Mrs. Barnett asks for a donation to the Maryland Food Bank.
