John Page
Grob
d. May 3, 2026
On May 3, 2026, John Page Grob suddenly passed away peacefully at his home in Towson, Maryland. He was the beloved son to the late Christian Grob and Mary (Betty) Wyckoff. John was the cherished husband of Linda Grob, proud father of Rachael Grob Redyk, her husband Peter Redyk, and loving grandfather to Benjamin Redyk.
John Grob was born on October 10, 1947, in Baltimore, Maryland. He spent his early years attending the Shrine of the Little Flower grade school and was active in the parish as well. John was a member of the first graduating class of Archbishop Curley High School, 1965. Shortly after his high school graduation, while attending college, John played lead guitar and sang in a local rock band. During that time, he enjoyed tinkering with his brand new 1969 VW Beetle and took pride in making various upgrades that would enhance its' look. John entered the military where he would later devote 20 years of service to the Army National Guard and 18 years of service to the Air National Guard. His final ranking within the military at retirement was an E9, Chief Master Sergeant, the highest enlisted rank in the United States Military. Upon retirement, he continued his military service for the next 10 years by assisting families who had relatives deployed overseas. During his early years in the military, he met his future wife Linda, and they would later marry on September 8, 1974. John and Lynn enjoyed playing cards with friends, dancing, bowling, and listening to music together while playing the guitar. John continued to support and encourage Lynn for the next 51 years of their marriage.
John became a proud father to Rachael Grob Redyk on August 6, 1977. Over the next several years he would serve as her coach, role model, and mentor. He took pride in sharing the many accomplishments of his daughter and was supportive of her every step of the way. On Jun 25, 2011, John gained a son-in-law and created a true bond with Peter Redyk which lasted for the next 15 years. It was immediately after the birth of his only grandchild, Benjamin Redyk in 2012, that John developed his true passion for being a grandfather. John and Benjamin did everything together. They enjoyed playing with Legos, watching movies, and taking day trips to the Maryland Zoo and other outdoor parks and playgrounds. John was a fixture at all of Benjamin's school and sporting events. The love they had for one another is eternal.
While his family and friends are devastated by his sudden passing, they are reminded of the kind, generous and loving man he was. John was an excellent example of a man that always lived life to the fullest, while keeping God at the center at all times. We will miss his humor, gentle way of loving others, and his passion for family and friends. May he rest in the arms of our Lord for all eternity.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Fischer House Foundation, a military charity that provides housing for families of patients receiving care at a VA or military hospital.
