On April 1, 2012 John Lloyd Bergbower; beloved husband of 26 years to Patricia Anne Smith; devoted father of Emily Anne Smith Bergbower; loving brother of Linda Bergbower and Sheila DiSaia; also survived by loving extended family and many friends. John's dedication to public service and the excellence with which he served the community was embodied in all of his work for the Baltimore City Police Department, including service as the Major for the Southwestern District, and in many innovative community activities. After retirement from the Police Department, he served as Senior Director of Internal Investigations and Corporate Security, and most recently as Vice President of Corporate Security for the Johns Hopkins Medical Institution. In addition, he was greatly respected by his students, both undergraduate and graduate, whom he taught in the Johns Hopkins School of Education. His caring, loyalty, and intelligence will greatly be missed.


A funeral service will be held at the family owned Ruck Towson Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 York Road (Beltway Exit 26A) on Thursday 9 AM. Friends may call on Wednesday 3-5 and 7-9 PM.
