Obituary

Joan Arnold Ball, 77, passed away on September 18, 2024, in Baltimore, MD. Born on February 10, 1947, in Brooklyn, NY, she was a beloved wife and devoted mother, cherished for her ability to add joy and life to every day

Joan was a proud Army wife to her Jimmy, supporting her family through many moves never failing to have her three girls wake up that first morning to the kitchen being "home". She embodied the strength and resilience that the role demands and taught her girls that friends are family and a new best friend is always waiting for you. She nurtured young minds as a preschool teacher and religious education instructor, leaving a lasting impact on countless children and their families.

Second only to being "Wife" & "Mom", being "Meme" brought the greatest joys of her life. Michael, Brian, Ashley, Ronan, Finnegan, Rauri and Declan brought her endless pride. Meme's Christmas is legendary and the traditions that she held so dear will live on forever.

She was a faithful member of St. Joseph's Parish and the Church of the Nativity, where she participated actively in community and spiritual life. Her faith sustained her and her family throughout the past few months and she was so grateful for the loving support of dear friends and especially the companionship of her shadow, Mer's pup RiLee.

Joan is survived by her husband, James A. Ball; daughters, Suzanne Ball Bernhardt and husband Steve Bernhardt; Meredith Ball; Courtney Ball O'Mahoney and husband Patrick O'Mahoney; Grandchildren – Michael, Brian and Ashley Bernhardt and Ronan, Finnegan, Rauri and Declan O'Mahoney. Siblings-Gregory Arnold, James Arnold and Robert Arnold. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry J. and Mary R. Arnold; and siblings, Harry Arnold, Ginny Flanagan, and Janice Arnold.
