Obituary

James E. Kundratic, Sr., passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, at the age of 90.

Born September 12, 1935, to the late Adam and Ella Kundratic.  James was a loving husband of the late MaryLou Kundratic, devoted father of James Kundratic Jr. and his wife Catherine, Kenneth Kundratic and his wife Tina, David Kundratic, Jeffrey Kundratic and his wife Cathleen, Brian Kundratic and his wife Chris. Cherished grandfather of Melissa Kreit, James Kundratic III, Amanda Kundratic, Kevin Kundratic, Katlin Aeschleman, Jennifer Vogin, and Kelly Kundratic Ausherman.  Dear great-grandfather of Connor Kreit, Hannah Kreit, James Kundratic IV, Theo Aeschleman, Eliza Aeschleman, and Lakelynn Vogin.

Known by many names throughout his life—James, Jim, and even "Sucker Slim Jim"—most knew him simply as JK, a name synonymous with hard work and craftsmanship.

JK was preceded in death by his beloved wife, MaryLou Kundratic, with whom he shared 68 years of marriage and a lifetime of cherished memories. Together, they raised five sons and were blessed to see their family grow to include seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren who will carry forward his legacy.

From a young age, JK developed a passion for woodworking, which led him to found JK Cabinet Company. Through his skill and dedication, he built a respected business and a lasting reputation for quality work.

A proud United States Marine Corps veteran, JK lived a life of service and commitment. He was also a devoted historian and enthusiast of antique farm equipment. His passion for preserving agricultural heritage led him to establish the Howetown Farm Show in Sterling, PA, an event that celebrated the region's rich farming history.

JK leaves behind his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends. Reunited with MaryLou, he will be remembered for his wisdom, humor, craftsmanship, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him.

The family will receive friends at the family-owned Duda-Ruck Funeral Home of Dundalk Inc. 7922 Wise Ave Dundalk, MD 21222 on Wednesday (7/1/2026) from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, where the funeral service will be held on Thursday (7/2/2026) at 10 AM.  Interment St. Stanislaus Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers please make a donation by mailing a check in his name to Marine Corps League 1714 Morse Road Forest Hill, MD 21050.
