Jack Steven
Kernick
d. Sep 2, 2026
Jack Steven Kernick, a cousin, friend, and lifelong Baltimorean, passed away on September 2, 2026, at the age of 80.
An early Baby Boomer, Jack was born on May 1, 1946, in Baltimore to Jack Seymour Kernick and Edythe McCleary Kernick. He grew up in the Ramblewood neighborhood and enjoyed family get-togethers. Jack was a proud graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute (Poly). He served in the U.S. Army, and he graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
He was an expert skier and enjoyed his many trips to Colorado with his ski club. He loved music and enjoyed attending concerts.
He worked in the engineering field and, later, spent many years working at the Towsontown Macy's.
In retirement he lived in Cockeysville, where he enjoyed socializing with people including those he met as he ran errands. Most recently, Jack lived at Atrium Village in Owings Mills. While there, he enjoyed the events and celebrations, made close friends, and thrived as part of the community.
Jack will be remembered for his intelligence, his love of skiing, his friendships, and his infectious laugh.
He is survived by multiple cousins and many friends.
The family is grateful to everyone who assisted Jack in his later years. Special thanks to the wonderful community at Atrium Village.
He will be interred in Parkwood Cemetery at a later date.
Donations in Jack's memory can be made to the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter
