On September 14, 2026, Howard E. Allen, Sr.; beloved husband of the late Elloise V. Allen (nee Long); son of the late George A. and Rose McGowen, passed quietly from this life. He grew up during the Great Depression and joined the Navy at a young age when war called. He was most proud of his service during the Normandy Invasion and spoke often of his antics in France. For his service he was awarded the American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and his pride and joy the Medaille DU Jubile from France. He is survived by his daughter, Brenda L. Harrie, dear brother George P. Allen, daughter-in-law and care giver, Shirley Allen, and 4 grandchildren. He was predeceased by all three of his sons, Howard E. Allen, Jr., David G. Allen, and Charles P. Allen. Also survived by a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit at the family-owned Duda-Ruck Funeral Home of Dundalk, Inc., 7922 Wise Avenue on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 10 AM. Internment Oak Lawn Cemetery.
