George (Bud) French Nixon Jr.
George "Bud" Nixon passed away on March 31, 2026, after a long battle with dementia. Bud was proceaded in death by his amazing wife Pamela Swiss Nixon and devoted parents George F. Nixon Sr. and Dorothy Rukert Nixon, and Brother Charles "Nick" Nixon and wife Loretta Nixon, and Brother-in-law Thomas Swiss and his nephew Scott Nixon. Bud is survived by his devoted son, Andrew Nixon and his wife Lindsay, and their four children, Eliza, William, Abigail and Gabriel as well as nieces Kristi, Kelli, Katie, and Sarah, and nephews Todd, and Timothy, and Sister-in-Law Deborah Swiss.
Bud lived around the Towson area his entire life. He grew up in Stoneleigh, then moved to Idlewylde and then to Old Lutherville for over 40 years. He has lived in the Broadmead retirement community over the last 8 years and they took good care of him until his departure.
Mr. Nixon spent over 30 years working for The Rukert Terminals Corporation in the Port of Baltimore. Bud was well known for his involvement in the local community in so many ways. He enjoyed and often lead many different organizations such as The Baltimore Port Alliance, The Baltimore Seafarers Center, The Chesapeake Sports Car Club, The Lutherville Community Association and The Church of the Holy Comforter. He enjoyed auto racing, Ravens football games, history tours, traveling and spending quality time with his family. Bud was well known for his big hugs and was always the life of the party! Everyone knew him as Uncle Bud, and he was always available to help you when needed or break some
bread with you!
A celebration of life will be held at the Church of the Holy Comforter, 130 West Seminary Avenue, Lutherville MD on Saturday April 25 at 11am. The family will receive friends from 10am to 11am and reception will follow the service. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Baltimore International Seafarers Center - www.baltseafarers.org
