EVELYN ROBERTS (nee Benson) of Towson, Maryland, passed away on January 13, 2010. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis I. Roberts. Evelyn graduated Towson High School in 1944 and was the first majorette in the school's history. She later graduated from Western Maryland College and received her master's degree in education from Towson State University. After college, Evelyn an accomplished opera singer, performed with opera companies in New York before returning to Maryland to raise a family. She taught kindergarten at Leith Walk Elementary School in Baltimore City for 31 years. She is survived by her devoted and loving family, son Drew Benson Roberts (Susan); granddaughters Samantha Parker (Nicholas) and Rebecca Roberts, and fondly remembered by many others.


Relatives and friends will be received at the family owned Ruck Towson Funeral Home Inc., 1050 York Road (beltway exit 26) on Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 where service will be held on Saturday at 11 A.M. Interment to follow at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society , 8219 Town Center Drive, Baltimore, MD 21236.
