Obituary

Eveleen Nora Sharpe

Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend

Eveleen Nora Sharpe (née Harkin), born March 21, 1938, in Clontarf, Dublin, Ireland, passed away peacefully at home in Timonium, MD on November 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

At the age of 25, Eveleen embarked on a brave journey when she emigrated to the United States in 1963 with her sister Maureen, leaving behind her parents, Jack and Sheila, as well as many siblings and friends. After reuniting a year later with Richard Vivian Sharpe, who had separately emigrated to Chicago, they later returned to Ireland to be married in 1965. Upon returning to the U.S. once again they began their long life together raising their 3 children, Karen, Sandra, and Robert. One highlight of her long life was on St. Patrick's Day, 1996 when Eveleen, Richard, and Sandra proudly became United States citizens - a fitting tribute to her Irish heritage and her deep affection for her adopted home.

More recently, Eveleen and Richard celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage, a milestone marked by devotion, laughter, and countless memories shared with family, friends and relatives.

She lived a vibrant and active life, bringing energy and joy to everything she did. Whether Irish dancing, ballroom dancing, playing tennis, or competing in pickleball, Eveleen embraced each with passion and excellence—earning medals in several state championships and Senior Olympic pickleball competitions. Her zest for life was matched only by her grace, kindness, and unshakable optimism.

Eveleen's greatest joy came from her family. She is survived by her beloved husband Richard, children Karen Regan (John Grill), Sandra Kempske (Kevin), and Robert Sharpe (Kimberly), and cherished grandchildren Connor, Ryan, and Brendan Kempske, and Molly, Anna, and Charley Sharpe. She was a loving sister to Niall Harkin, Maureen Mahoney and Noreen Dowling, and the late Michael (Seph), Donie, Jackie Harkin, and Sheila O'Sullivan. As a loving aunt to 37 nieces and nephews, she cherished celebrations with family in both the US and Ireland.

A visitation will be held at Ruck Funeral Home in Towson, MD, on Thursday, November 6th, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. A funeral Mass and celebration of Eveleen's life will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Towson, MD on Friday, November 7th at 11:00am.

Her warmth, humor, and unwavering love will be remembered by all who knew her. Her spirit and faith were constant sources of her strength. In remembrance of Eveleen, we hope that prayers and compassion would be extended to all those whose lives have been touched by pancreatic cancer, dementia, and melanoma.
