Elzbieta Mrozek Sheridan
December 10, 1950 – November 19, 2025
It is with profound love and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Elzbieta Mrozek Sheridan, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, on November 19, 2025 at the age of 74. Born on December 10, 1950 in Czersk, Poland, to the late Anna Schmidt and Mieczysław Mrozek, Elzbieta spent her early childhood in Bydgoszcz before beginning a journey that would shape the rest of her life.
In 1966, Elzbieta bravely left Poland to pursue her education in the United States, welcomed with love by her uncle, the late Theodor Schmidt, and aunt, Maria Schmidt. She graduated from Our Lady of Pompeii High School in 1970 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Notre Dame of Maryland University in 1974.
Shortly after, she met her husband of 50 years, Dr. Martin Jerome Sheridan, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, partnership, and family. They were married on April 5, 1975, in Baltimore, Maryland. Elzbieta and Martin took immense pride in raising their daughters, Nikki and Anne, and treasured family time spent at their lake house on Deep Creek Lake in Garrett County, Maryland. Elzbieta lovingly maintained many Polish traditions in her home and cherished visits with her family from Poland. As a grandmother of six, she offered boundless warmth, care, and wisdom, creating memories her grandchildren will hold close forever.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Martin Jerome Sheridan; her daughters, Dr. Monique "Nikki" Alworth and husband Chris, and their children Finley, Jack, Owen, and Wells; and Anne Sheridan Quigley and husband Ryan, and their children Graham and Russell. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law in Poland, Janusz and Mariola Mrozek and Kazimierz and Gejsza Mrozek, as well as her cherished nieces and nephews—Maciej, Magdalena, and Bacia Mrozek.
Elzbieta dedicated 49 years of service to the State of Maryland Disability Determination Services, rising to the position of Director of Operations. She approached her work with steadfast dedication, compassion, and integrity, and was reluctant to retire from a role that meant so much to her.
Elzbieta was anchored in her strong Catholic faith. A dedicated parishioner of Cathedral of Mary Our Queen, she served as a Eucharistic minister and religion teacher. Through her service, devotion, and example, she enriched the spiritual lives of many and embodied the virtues she held dear.
Elzbieta's life was defined by love, commitment, faith, and selfless generosity, leaving a lasting legacy that will live on in all who were blessed to know her. She will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held at the family owned Ruck Towson Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 York Rd., on Tuesday, December 2, from 5-8pm. A funeral mass will be held on December 3, 2025, at 11am at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen, with livestreaming available at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/@cathedralofmary/streams Her interment is scheduled for Friday, December 5, at 1 p.m. in the mausoleum at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
