Obituary

Edward S. Klohr, Jr., M.D., a resident of Edenwald in Towson, was born October 4, 1930 in Randallstown to Grace Holbrook and Edward S. Klohr, Sr., joining two sisters, Ruth E. Klohr and Margaret Klohr Cooper. His grandfather, a farmer, declared a holiday the day he was born - after five granddaughters he finally had a grandson! He attended Randallstown Elementary School, Catonsville High School, Western Maryland College, and the University of Maryland School of Medicine. In 1955 he married Louise Lehmann at Mt. Paran Presbyterian Church, where they met two years earlier.

After completing his residency in Anesthesia, he was drafted into the Air Force, spending two years practicing anesthesia at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado. While the Air Force Academy was being built, the dorms and the hospital were at Lowry.

Upon returning to Maryland, he joined the Anesthesia Staff at Maryland General Hospital. He enjoyed his 26 years of practice, and visiting his patients the night before surgery to relieve their anxiety.

Discouraged by the rising cost of malpractice insurance, he retired earlier than planned. He and Louise spent a summer working and hiking at Sperry Chalet in Glacier National Park and seven summers working and hiking in Yellowstone National Park.

He is survived by his loving wife, Louise, son Steve (Wendy Protzman), daughter Pam (the late Ron Serafino). Grandfather of Danny Serafino (Meagen), Lisa Rager, Alex Klohr (Nina), and Kirsten Carbonara (Michael). Great Grandfather of Leighton, Quintin, Duey, Grant, Amelia, and Logan. Uncle of Jeannine Cooper Campbell and the late Don G. Cooper.
