Douglas Pendleton Sands, Sr. of Owings Mills, Maryland passed away on September 25, 2026, at the age of 80. He is survived by his loving wife Mary A. Sands (nee Dunphy); his loving children, Mary Taylor (David) and Douglas P. Sands, Jr., his adoring grandchildren Brooke Taylor and Jordan Taylor, and his devoted brother Stuart F. Sands.

Douglas was extremely proud of his military service in the Army, which was followed by his continuous service to the country with the Department of Social Security where he retired with over 40 years of service.

He was a caring family man spending as much time as possible in retirement with his children and grandchildren in addition to being a loyal Ravens fan.

Friends may visit at the Ruck Towson Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 York Road, Towson, MD on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 10am -12pm, at which time the funeral service will begin at noon. The interment will follow at Druid Ridge Cemetery. Family and friends are invited back to the home of Mrs. Mary Sands following the interment for refreshments and fellowship.
