Obituary

Cynthia Cseko Paine April 24, 1945, to April 10, 2025

Cynthia Cseko Paine passed away on April 10, 2025, at GBMC hospital after a short illness, in Baltimore County, Maryland. She was born in Fayette County in Brownsville PA on April 24, 1945, to Paul Charles and Dorothy Cseko (nee Rogish). She grew up in Isabella PA and graduated from Brownsville High School in 1963. She was predeceased by her parents,  her brother, Paul Cseko and her brother in law Lloyd Gilmore.

She continued her studies at California- Penn University campus located on the Monongahela River, where she graduated in 1966 with a degree in teaching. She was married in June 1966 and in January 1968 became the proud Mom to daughter, SueAnn.

She relocated to Baltimore County, Maryland and taught elementary school in various schools before joining the staff at Oakleigh Elementary School, where she taught 5th grade for 35 years.

As a travel enthusiast, Cynthia visited many countries including France, Egypt, Germany, China, Austria, Hungary, Jordan, Isreal, Russia, and New Zealand. Her favorite vacation spot was Paris: she loved the food, people and atmosphere. The Musee de Cluny was her favorite museum.

She and her brother and sister grew up in a small-town called Isabella in Western Pa, where they had a wonderful Tom Sawyer like childhood swimming in the river, climbing the hills and spending time with extended family.  She was crazy about her football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers and she loved animals, especially dogs. She was also fond of archaeology and geology; she loved to go digging for gems!

Cynthia survived by her daughter SueAnn Griffin of Towson, her longtime partner Larry Adams of Parkville, her sister Drauga Gilmore of Towson, her nephew Paul Cseko of Virginia, his wife Bridget and their children Jackson and Josephine.

A memorial service is being held June 26th at 11 am at the Church of the Redeemer on Charles Street in Baltimore. Reception is to follow.

In lieu of flowers a contribution can be made in her name to the Baltimore County Humane Society, 1601 Nicodemus Road, Reisterstown, MD 2114 or bmorehumane.org
