On December 3, 2024 Connie Jo Shiflett (nee Hamrick), age 79, passed away in her home in Cumberland, MD. Beloved wife of the late Ennis E. Shiflett, Jr.; devoted mother of Amy Shiflett Sullivan; cherished grandmother of Austin Brad Thomas; beloved mother-in-law of James Sullivan; dear sister of Geraldine Dowdy (Donnie), Debra Wilson (Bill), William Hamrick (Barbara), Robert Hamrick (Lyla), the late Carol Sue Hamrick, and the late Peggy Hamrick Walkup. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Connie Jo was born on January 28, 1945 in Hinton, WV to her late parents Gladys Erskine Hamrick and Stepfather Frank Hamrick. Connie Jo valued and appreciated her countryside upbringing, but as fate would have it, she met her late husband Ennis on a blind date in Maryland and soon moved to Dundalk to share her life with him. Connie Jo worked for many years at the social security office in Woodlawn, and when not working she enjoyed gardening, reading, bird watching. Her greatest joy of all, her one and only grandson Austin Brad Thomas. She will be dearly missed. May she find eternal peace.

A funeral service will be held at the family owned Duda-Ruck Funeral Home of Dundalk, Inc. 7922 Wise Avenue on Thursday December 12, 2024 at 10 AM. Friends may visit on Wednesday December 11, 2024 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Interment Holly Hill Memorial Gardens.
