On December 24, 2024, Charles M. Hughes, III died in Timonium, Maryland. He is predeceased by his wife Lynnallen Walker Hughes, his parents Charles M. Hughes, Jr. and Janetta M. (Runyan) Hughes, and by his son Michael F. Hughes. He is survived by his devoted son Gregory G. Hughes and his wife Sonja Hughes, his grandson Robert Thornburg, his brother David Hughes, his niece Jennifer Whitlow, and his nephew Jason David Hughes.

Charles was born and raised in Malvern, Arkansas and was a graduate of Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, where he was a member of the ROTC program. He was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army after graduation and reported for active duty, serving in the Vietnam War. He later earned a Master's degree from the University of Maryland.

The family will receive friends in the Chapel at Stella Maris 2300 Dulaney Valley Road Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 10:30AM until 11:00AM. The Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00AM.
