On March 25, 2026, Charles L. Gugliotta died peacefully in Parkville, Maryland. Charles is predeceased by his beloved parents, Frank Gugliotta and Helen S. Gugliotta (nee Heaps) and by his loving siblings Philip Gugliotta, Otho Gugliotta, Anna Lombardi and Frances Gray. He is survived by his cherished nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces and great great nephews, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his church family and community of friends.
Charles was a 1957 graduate of Mergenthaler Vocational Technical High School in Baltimore and worked for five years as a baker for Silber's Bakery before enlisting in the US Army.
After completing basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, in January 1962, he was stationed at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama and finally Bangkok, Thailand.
A proud US Army veteran, Charles was honorably discharged from service in Thailand and traveled around the world before returning home to Baltimore. The former Army Personnel Pay Specialist was assigned to the Joint US Military Advisory Group to Thailand, where he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for "initiating procedures which increased the efficiency involved in pay operations for the command."
Mr. Gugliotta was employed by the Department of Defense, working at their Headquarters Building in Fort Meade, as a Transportation Specialist.
Charles was a collector of watercolors, every print representing a place where he traveled. One hunting print depicts the "Meet at Melton" and was the first color printing of an original that belonged to the Duke of Wellington which Charles found in London.
The family will receive friends at the family-owned Ruck Towson Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 York Road Towson, MD 21204 on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 2PM-4PM and 6PM-8PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen 5200 N. Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21210 on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 11AM (the Funeral Mass will be livestreamed on the Cathedral website). Interment will follow in the Baltimore Cemetery 2500 East North Avenue Baltimore, MD 21213. In lieu of flowers, the family will appreciate memorial contributions to Tunnel to Towers, or to the School of the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen Endowment and Trust Fund.
