On March 26, 2025, Catherine Mary Slacum passed away peacefully at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late William J. Slacum and the devoted mother of Cindy Johnson, Todd Slacum, Clyde Slacum, Susan Slacum Williams (Scott), and the late Gary Slacum. She was also predeceased by her cherished son-in-law and beloved "sunning partner," Lawrence Johnson. She was a proud grandmother to William Slacum, Carey Buxton (Jamie), Hannah Johnson (Tommy), Sasha Sachdev (Sean), Parker Amos (Ashley), and Phillip Slacum. She is also survived by her sister, Jane Getzendanner, and sister-in-law, Lois Slacum. The family is grateful to Catherine's devoted caretakers—Mary Shumaker, Patty Poole, Curly Top, and the Lollipops—whose companionship brought her joy in her final years.

Friends and family are welcome to the Ruck Towson Funeral Home (Beltway exit 26) on Friday, March 28 from 4-7 PM.

A funeral service to take place the following day on Saturday, March 29 at the Ruck Towson Funeral Home in the chapel at 10 AM.

Interment to follow at Loudon Park Cemetery.

Catherine (Kate) Slacum had a remarkable blend of generosity and individuality. A true hostess at heart, Kate spent countless days in the aisles of Graul's and Eddie's, always preparing her kitchen to welcome the steady stream of visitors who filled her home. She cared tremendously for her family and friends, often bearing gifts such as candies and sometimes peculiar items for the kitchen and home accompanied by goofy messages reminding you to put out a new roll of toilet paper when you host your next party. Her distinctive style, exemplified by her signature sunglasses perched atop her head, along with her unforgettable sass, will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Ciao for now, Kate, but not forever.
