Carolyn Anderson
London
d. Nov 8, 2025
On November 8, 2025–
Carolyn Anderson London—beloved wife of The Honorable Lewis Alexander London, dear sister-in-law to Lynn Ann London, devoted mother to Cara Lynn London and Lisa Stirling London-Nadolny (Edward), cherished grandmother to George "Geordie" Lawrence Schnader, IV, Alexander London Schnader (Lauren), Lily Alexandra Stafford (Charles), Lyal Henry Peyton, V (Marissa), loving great-grandmother to Archer "Archie" Kaden Schnader.
In addition to her family, Carolyn's many accomplishments and achievements include being a painter and sculptor, museum docent, songwriter and musician, published author, skilled paralegal, psychologist and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC).
Carolyn received her BFA with honors from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), a MS with honors in Psychology from Loyola University Maryland and later attended The Johns Hopkins University.
At the Maryland Institute College of Art, she was the first female student of the famed Greek master sculptor, Constantine L. Seferlis, whose extensive work can be seen at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, District of Columbia.
Carolyn loved all things involving art, music and culture. Mary Travers, of "Peter, Paul and Mary" fame, once wrote to Carolyn expressing admiration for a song Carolyn had composed.
Carolyn adored animals of all kinds and gave to many charities promoting animal welfare and the prevention of animal cruelty.
Carolyn was an avid horticulturalist who enjoyed raising and showing plants, especially African violets. Carolyn often supported environmental causes and despite having no formal legal education, she successfully stopped the development of a major industrial park that would have caused serious damage to a town in Pennsylvania.
As a LCPC, Carolyn was a tireless advocate for mental health awareness and spent many years helping those suffering in silence. In addition, she worked in drug and alcohol outpatient treatment, for those in partial hospitalization and in private practice.
Carolyn was the very embodiment of the saying, "Whoever saves a life, saves the world entire". One of her crowning achievements was during her tenure working at a local adult detention center, not one inmate ever attempted suicide in her care. The number of potential lives she saved is inestimable.
To all who knew Carolyn, her encyclopedic knowledge, empathy and the values she imbued left a lasting impression.
She died in peace and harmony surrounded by those who loved her—a befitting and glorious end to a life well-lived that was devoted to the benefit of others.
Funeral service arrangements are private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Maryland Institute College of Art for scholarships or emergency funds for students.
