Obituary

Carolyn Wilson Heggie, beloved wife of the late Harvey F. Heggie, died peacefully at home in Phoenix, MD August 22, 2024 at the age of 85.

Carolyn leaves behind her son, Walter Heggie, her daughter, Victoria Kagler and their spouses. Five beloved grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was the sister of her deceased brother Dr. Carl Wilson and is survived by a sister, A.W. Farrar, many great and great grand nieces and nephews as well as the son and three daughters of her deceased sister Betty Wilson Alford.

Born on January 2, 1939 in Jackson, Mississippi to Stennis Aline Hendrick Wilson and Everett Buford Wilson, Carolyn was raised in Essex, Maryland where she graduated from Kenwood High School. Carolyn started her real estate company, C.W. Heggie Key Realty, Inc. in 1979, a lofty undertaking for a woman at that time. Over the course of more than 50 years, Carolyn helped families all over the Baltimore metropolitan area and beyond realize the American Dream of home ownership. She continued do this with great pride until just before she passed.

Carolyn was an active and devoted member of several area churches: Middle River Baptist in Essex, Woolford Memorial Baptist Church in Dundalk, and finally Long Green Baptist in Glen Arm. Her faith and walk with God were of paramount importance to her and something she passed on to her family and as many others as she could. Carolyn was also active in the Baltimore Baptist Association, lending her real estate expertise to their property management and sales needs over many years.

Carolyn was active in the Greater Baltimore Board of Realtors, serving on many committees and as a Board member of their Credit Union.

She loved to travel and did so at every opportunity. In the early days there were cross country trips in a truck camper with family and pets ultimately seeing all 48 of the continental states. Later she traveled the World with family and friends and would not hesitate to stay an extra week on her own if the opportunity presented. Whether flying or driving, she had a bag packed and ready to go. Among her favorite destinations were Hawaii, Alaska, Aruba and Williamsburg.

Carolyn's daily life revolved around her home, the beloved farm Four Ponds Farm in Jacksonville, MD. There she made a home for both family and animals alike. Nothing was more important to her than having family close by and visiting often. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were a focus of enjoyment, legacy and love. She will be missed.
