Betty Rae Wirtz (nee Wolfe), age 92, passed away peacefully at her residence at Queenstown Landing Assisted Living in Queenstown, MD.

Betty was an avid reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast. She resided in Baltimore County until 2019 and was a devoted member of her beloved Ashland Presbyterian Church. Betty was a long-time employee of the Baltimore County Public School system and retired from Hampton Elementary School in 1995.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, George (Pete) Wirtz, Jr., brothers Norman and Robert, and great grandson Mason.

She is survived by her sons, Rick (Teresa) and Kevin (Natalie), her grandchildren Matt, Andrew, Katie, Jacob (Jessica), Rachel (Sean), and Michael (Becca), and great grandchild Cohen Ferrary (Rachel and Sean).

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Queenstown Landing Assisted Living for providing her with a safe and caring environment for her nearly 4 ½ year residence there.

Services will be held at Ruck's Funeral Home, 1050 York Road, Towson, MD  on January 17, 2026. Friends and family may call from 2:00-3:00 pm with services to follow in the chapel at 3:00.
