Betty Taliaferro Dickinson, 94, passed away on April 19, 2026.
The daughter of the late Roy Stanford Mason and Mildred Bassford Mason, she was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. She attended Forest Park High School and graduated from the University of Maryland in 1953.
Betty had a long and varied career. After a stint working for Kiplinger Publications in Washington, DC, she moved to the Eastern Shore of Maryland, where she excelled as an award-winning photographer and features writer for newspapers in Easton and Denton, profiling many notable people who had retired to the Eastern Shore. She also spent 12 years as a conference planner at the Wye Institute. A devoted daughter, she eventually returned to Baltimore to care for her aging parents.
In recent years, Betty resided in the Broadmead retirement community, where she was actively engaged in many different activities. She will be remembered for her cheerful disposition, unquenchable curiosity, and kindness to everyone she met.
She is survived by her dear cousins Susan Hayes Lau, Illona Juelich Hayes, Tyler J. Hayes, Dorothy Carroll Schirmer (Frances), Connie Poulton Tipton (William), and Ann Cunningham Stachura (Mel).
Friends and family are welcome to visit at the family-owned Ruck Towson Funeral Home (Beltway exit 26, 1050 York Road, Towson, MD 21204) on Wednesday, April 29 from 2-4 PM. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, April 30 at 10AM, followed by a private internment. A celebration of life will be held at Broadmead at a later date.
