Arturo Q.
Santos .
Jun 17, 1944 — Mar 20, 2026
On March 20, 2026, Dr. Arturo Queg Santos passed away peacefully in Hunt Valley, MD. He is the beloved husband of Dr. JoAnn C. Santos (nee Clayton); devoted father of Natalie Joy Santos Ferguson (Jamie), Richard Clayton Santos (Shana) and Emily Santos Fisher (Jake); loving grandfather of Charlotte Ann Ferguson, Drew Helena Ferguson, Arthur King Santos, Rosemary Lou Fisher and Samuel Harris Fisher; devoted brother of Ernesto Santos (Amy) both deceased, Edna Lucas (Rodante-deceased), Henry Santos (Daphne-deceased), Helen Santos (Prudente) both deceased, Aurora Butler (Malcolm), Medardo Santos (Cherry- deceased); cherished son of Federico J. Santos (deceased) and Quintina L. Santos (deceased).
Arturo was born in Malabon, Rizal Province in the Philippines. He was the fifth child of seven born to Quintina Santos, a devoted mother and Federico Santos, a mechanical engineer and jeepney company owner. He earned his Doctorate from the University of the Philippines and was the first of his family to travel to the U.S. to practice medicine. As an attending physician at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore, he met the love of his life, a pediatric resident named JoAnn, and decided to make his home in America. Art and JoAnn lived in Reisterstown, where they raised their three children. A prominent neonatologist practicing in Baltimore City, Art eventually led the neonatal unit at St. Agnes Hospital where he worked for more than 30 years helping to save the lives of babies in need of intensive care.
Art embraced an active lifestyle, with a lifelong passion for tennis. He even learned to ski and nurtured that love of sport in all three of his children, most memorably through spirited ping pong matches and backyard soccer shootouts. Art was happiest surrounded by family and friends with a karaoke mic in hand, singing Frank Sinatra, Engelbert Humperdinck and his all-time favorite, The Beatles. He loved to enjoy and share the native Filipino foods of his childhood. In his later years, he found solace at his beach home on the Delaware shore, spending quiet days with JoAnn and their beloved cat, Ragnar. He led his life with grace, patience and humility, with a quiet sense of humor that was both charming and infectious.
