Obituary for Antoinette Mary "Netta" (Campagnoli) King

Antoinette Mary "Netta" (Campagnoli) King, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, nurse, and devoted servant to her community and faith, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, at the age of 90, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.

Born on October 6, 1935, in Baltimore, Maryland, Netta was the cherished daughter of Luigi and Lucia Campagnoli. Netta is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, August Daniel King, Jr, MD.; her loving children, Lucy King, August Daniel King III, MD, Paul King, and Judith (King) Crowley and her husband, David, and her dear son-in-law, Tom Williams; as well as 13 treasured grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Faust, Oswaldo, Dominic, and Anita; her beloved daughter, Mary Catherine (King) Williams; and her granddaughter, Marlane King.

Netta and Dan were married on September 6, 1958, in Baltimore, Maryland. Childhood sweethearts, they built a beautiful life together, rooted in faith, love, perseverance, and dedication to family. Together, they navigated life's joys and challenges while raising five children and supporting careers in nursing and medicine.

A proud graduate of Catholic High School of Baltimore, Class of 1954, Netta went on to earn her nursing degree from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in 1957. She began her career as an emergency room nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital on Caroline Street in Baltimore. Later, she devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising her family while supporting her husband through his medical training. Her nursing skills, compassion, and tireless care were a constant source of comfort and strength for those around her.

Netta's faith was central to her life. She was an active and beloved member of the Church of the Nativity in Timonium, where she chaired the parish spaghetti dinner, taught religious education classes, served on the altar committee, and became known as a favorite chef among the priests of the parish.

Her spirit of service extended far beyond her church community. She volunteered as a nurse at Riderwood Elementary School, prepared and served meals at the Franciscan Center in Baltimore, visited children at Stella Maris to read and brighten their days, and hosted summer outings for the Mission Helpers of the Sacred Heart.

Netta will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, quick wit, warm heart, and unwavering devotion to family and faith. She touched countless lives through her compassion and selfless service, leaving behind a legacy of love.
