Allen Ross Cumming. Age 94
May 2, 1931 - February 28, 2026
Allen left this earth on February 28, 2026 after a long and productive life as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, engineer, friend, neighbor and avid tennis player. Allen was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Maria Mercedes Saldana Llioveras Cumming. He was the devoted father to Donald Cumming (Amy), Isabel Mercedes Cumming (Don), and Maria Cumming (Jeff). As well as the grandfather to Stephanie, Rachel, Stephen Allen (Rachel), Joey, Connor (Megan), Kyle, Tyler and Annabelle. He is also survived by his dear Pat at Mercy Ridge and his brother William (Jacque) of Calgary, Canada.
Allen was born in Indian Head, Saskatchewan Canada. He pursued his great love for math and was awarded the highest honors in Canada for his math skills as a youth. His success led to acceptance into the Canadian Royal Roads Military Academy and a degree from Queens University. Allen entered the Canadian Navy where good fortune found his ship docked in San Juan, Puerto Rico. While there, he was introduced to a young woman named Maria who he considered to be the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen. She accepted his request to write to her, and after a year of correspondence she accepted his proposal of marriage. They both attended the University of California Berkley for their respective master's degrees with Allen earning his in Electrical Engineering. They were married in 1958 in San Juan.
After several work relocations, they moved to Towson in 1971 and found their forever home. Allen had a long career at Westinghouse working on the F-16 radar where he was awarded three patents and enjoyed his opportunity to travel the world. He worked operations at both Hunt Valley and BWI before retiring in 1993. Allen was an avid tennis player and was able continue his time on the court playing until the age of 90. Allen also enjoyed and was proficient at squash, billiards and cribbage. He will be remembered for always having a smile on his face and a kind word for others. He loved to call all his many friends - his very best friend. Allen will be missed by all those that loved him.
